About Us

Everystory, founded in 2018, is a Sri Lanka-based feminist collective working
to harness the transformative power of storytelling and knowledge sharing.
Our mission is to use these tools to challenge and dismantle systems of power and oppression that marginalise people and communities. We aim to build
an equal and equitable world centered on intersectional feminist principles.

Stories are a powerful tool for social change and have the potential to provide
a platform for us to reflect on experiences and challenges. We work to create this space globally, rooted in our histories, cultures, and practices – without compromising on the principles of questioning and evolution.

Everystory Lanka (formed in 2018) is a Sri Lankan-based feminist collective focused on storytelling and knowledge sharing. We use creative practices, mixed media, panel discussions, and more to create this space. We believe that stories and knowledge come in all shapes and forms, and it is within this complexity and potential for creativity

that we engage.

The current formulation of our team and way of working began in May 2020 and is primarily remote-based. Alongside our core team, we have our Fellows who work with us each quarter on a rolling basis. We also employ several freelancers and consultants for support on various projects.

Stories of Sri Lankan Women

One of ESSL’s flagship programs is dedicated to documenting and sharing the powerful, often overlooked stories of Sri Lankan women. These stories highlight the struggles, resilience, and contributions of women who have defied oppressive and patriarchal structures to shape (and have also, in turn, been shaped) the social, political, and other trajectories of Sri Lankan history.
